Brief Summary and Key Points

As a part of the Work Package 6 (WP6) of Erasmus + programme “Promoting academia-industry alliances for R&D through collaborative and open innovation platform – All4R&D”, at Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar (UNMO), Faculty of Civil Engineering was organized the second national event and presentation of open innovative platform.

The list of participants was created baring in mind the diversity of potential users of the platform. The invitation was sent to experts from construction industry, civil engineers, architects, designers, research institutions, non-government organizations, public authorities, representatives from academia and students.

The program started with the opening address of the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, prof.dr. Suad Špago, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the industry and universities and the possibilities of development of both involved parties through well-designed and focused research projects.

Prof.dr. Merima Šahinagić-Isović, briefly presented the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar and Faculty of Civil Engineering. Then, she presented the project “Promoting cooperation between universities and industry for research and development through cooperation and open innovation platform – All4R&D”, since most of the audience did not heard about the project before. She emphasized the aims and goals of the project, presented activities in the project, such as kick-off meeting in Skopje and workshop in Vaasa. In the end she presented results achieved so far, including Open Innovation Platform and newly formed Center for materials research. The presentation lasted about 20 minutes.

After that, sr.ass.mr. Marko Ćećez presented the Open Innovation Platform. He explained general idea of the platform, registration process for individuals and companies, possibility of research proposals, useful links, and other features of the platform. The presentation lasted about 15 minutes.

Finally, Amina Baljić, a member of the HP Investing Project team, informed the audience about the company and its’ role in the project. The presentation lasted about 10 minutes.

At the discussion that followed, four participants addressed the audience. First, prof.dr. Fuad Ćatović (former Dean and Rector) spoke about cooperation of university with industry and its’ importance and gave his support to the project. Admir Smajić from the company Iso-Span spoked about his company’s activities with universities and emphasized the recently agreed cooperation with UNMO. He offered students the possibility to work in theirs’ company as some further steps of cooperation. Affan Čehajić, director of Žiža consulting company, said that he and his organization support the idea, and that presented platform is excellent place to improve the communication and research possibilities. He believes that without the active cooperation of academia and industry there is no possibility for progress. In the end, Admir Logo from REDAH organization, spoked about importance of joint research project of universities and companies, but also of governmental and non-governmental organizations involvement in such projects. After every speaker, small discussion followed. Discussion in total lasted about 45 minutes.

For the conclusion, prof.dr. Merima Šahinagić-Isović thanked the audience for coming and called everyone present to join the platform and to encourage other colleagues and partners to join.

After the formal end of the event, small banquet was organized for non-formal conversation. The students used the possibility to speak to representatives of the companies, and the other participants used to time to speak about the platform in more detail and its’ possibilities.
